Prayer

"Heavenly Father, thank You for always going before us and making a way where there seems to be no way. As we reflect on Joshua 3 today, open our hearts to trust You more deeply. Strengthen our faith to step into the waters of uncertainty, knowing that You are with us. Help us to remember Your past faithfulness so we can walk forward with confidence. In Yeshua’s name, Amen."

Introduction

Have you ever faced an impossible situation? A moment when you stood at the edge of uncertainty, not knowing how to move forward? Maybe it’s a financial burden, a health crisis, or a major life decision. In Joshua 3, the Israelites stood before the Jordan River at flood stage, with no visible way to cross. Yet, Yahweh was about to show them that faith requires stepping forward—even when the path is unclear.

Scripture Exploration

Joshua 3:5, 13 (NRSV)

"Then Joshua said to the people, ‘Sanctify yourselves; for tomorrow Yahweh will do wonders among you.’"
"When the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of Yahweh, the Lord of all the earth, rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters flowing from above shall be cut off; they shall stand in a single heap."

Deep Dive: Trusting Yahweh’s Path

1. Faith Requires Preparation

  • Joshua commands the people to sanctify themselves (v. 5). This means setting themselves apart spiritually, preparing their hearts to see Yahweh move.

  • Before we step into our "Jordan," we must align our hearts with Yahweh’s will through prayer, repentance, and obedience.

2. Yahweh Leads the Way

  • The Ark of the Covenant, representing Yahweh’s presence, goes first. This shows that Yahweh always leads His people before they step forward.

  • In our lives, we must trust that Yahweh is already ahead of us, making a way even when we cannot see it.

3. The Waters Don’t Part Until We Step In

  • The miracle happened only after the priests' feet touched the water. This means faith often requires us to take the first step before we see the breakthrough.

  • We may want Yahweh to show us the whole path before we act, but sometimes He asks us to move forward in trust, believing that He will make a way.

Relatable Scenario:

Imagine standing on the edge of a deep pool, afraid to jump in. You’ve been told the water will hold you, but you won’t know for sure until you take that step. This is how faith works—trusting Yahweh before you see the miracle.

Core Message

Yahweh’s power is revealed when we step out in faith, even when the way ahead is unclear. He calls us to trust Him, prepare our hearts, and move forward, knowing He has already made a way.

Life Stories

  1. A Test of Faith in Business

  • Mark felt called to start a business, but fear held him back. When he finally stepped forward in faith, opportunities opened that he never expected. Like the Israelites, he had to trust Yahweh before he saw the provision.

   2. Healing Through Trust

  • Sarah battled an illness and felt Yahweh calling her to trust Him completely. As she prayed and followed His lead, she experienced not only physical healing but a deeper faith than ever before.

Common Experiences

  • Feeling stuck in life, unsure of what step to take next.

  • Wanting to see Yahweh move but struggling to take the first step.

  • Remembering past hardships more than past miracles.

Everyday Challenges & Encouragement

  • Challenge: Fear of the unknown.

  • Encouragement: Yahweh has already gone before you (Deuteronomy 31:8).

  • Challenge: Doubting Yahweh’s provision.

  • Encouragement: His plans are for your good (Jeremiah 29:11).

  • Challenge: Waiting for a sign before acting.

  • Encouragement: Faith requires stepping forward (2 Corinthians 5:7).

Practical Steps to Apply This Lesson:

  1. Identify Your "Jordan River"

  • What obstacle or challenge is Yahweh calling you to step into with faith? Write it down in a journal or prayer notebook.

   2.Prepare Your Heart

  • Just as Joshua told the Israelites to sanctify themselves, spend time in prayer, repentance, and seeking Yahweh’s guidance.

   3.Take One Bold Step

  • Faith requires action. Whether it’s making a decision, having a difficult conversation, or trusting Yahweh in uncertainty, take one step forward this week.

   4.Remember Past Victories

  • Reflect on times when Yahweh has been faithful to you before. Write down 3 ways He has provided for you in the past as a reminder of His trustworthiness.

   5.Speak and Declare Yahweh’s Promises

  • Meditate on scriptures about faith (like Joshua 1:9 or Hebrews 11:1) and declare them over your situation.

Reflection & Application

  • Reflection: What is your "Jordan River" right now? Where is Yahweh calling you to step forward in faith?

  • Application: This week, take one step toward what Yahweh has called you to do—whether it’s reaching out to someone, starting a project, or deepening your spiritual walk.

Closing Prayer

"Father Yahweh, thank You for always going before us. Help us to step forward in faith, even when we don’t see the full picture. Strengthen our hearts to trust You, just as the Israelites trusted You at the Jordan River. Let us walk boldly, knowing You are making a way. In Yeshua’s mighty name, Amen."

Further Study:

  • Exodus 14:21-22 – Parting of the Red Sea (similar to the Jordan crossing).

  • Matthew 14:29-31 – Peter walking on water, stepping out in faith.

  • Hebrews 11:1 – Definition of faith and trusting in what is unseen.

Concluding Thoughts:

Just as Yahweh made a way for the Israelites, He is making a way for you. Don’t wait for the waters to part—step forward in faith, and trust that Yahweh will lead you into His promises.

My response was short but there was so much I could have said here, having come to the Jordan a few times in life and not knowing when or even how to step forward. (Still working on it)
