Prayer
"Abba Yahweh (God),
We humble ourselves before You. Pierce our hearts, and remove every affection that competes with Your glory. We don’t want partial love—we want You to have it all. Let this word cleanse, convict, and call us deeper. May Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) awaken us to what’s fading and anchor us in what’s eternal. In the matchless name of Yeshua (Jesus), Amen."
Introduction
There’s a kind of love that looks harmless, even normal—but it’s dangerous. It slowly pulls our hearts away from Yahweh (God), one small decision at a time. It doesn’t shout. It whispers. It says: “You can have God and still hold onto the world.”
That’s the lie.
Many of us aren’t rejecting Yahweh (God) out loud—we’re just giving Him less and less of ourselves. We still pray. Still attend worship. But something’s missing. His presence feels distant. Our hunger fades. The fire is low.
Why?
Because our hearts are becoming divided.
Because the world—its approval, comfort, money, status, pleasure—is taking the place meant only for Him.
But Yahweh (God) won’t share your heart with the system that opposes Him.
“If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” —1 John 2:15 (NRSV)
That’s not punishment. It’s truth. Love for this world and love for the Father cannot coexist. You will always choose one over the other. And when we choose the world, even silently, we begin to lose the closeness we once had with Him.
This message is a wake-up call. A loving warning. Yahweh (God) is not after part of your heart. He wants all of you. He sent Yeshua (Jesus) not just to forgive your sins—but to set you free from a world that’s fading away.
So if you’ve felt far… if you’ve been holding onto things that compete with Him…
This is your invitation back.
Let the love that costs you everything be the love that gives you everything that truly matters—Him.
Scripture Exploration
1 John 2:15 (NRSV):
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. The love of the Father is not in those who love the world.”
1 John 2:17
“The world and its desire are passing away, but those who do the will of God live forever.”
Deep Dive (Context + Language + Theology)
"World" (Greek: kosmos, Strong’s G2889) refers to the spiritual system that is structured to operate without Yahweh (God). It’s not the people or the earth—it’s the mindset and atmosphere led by Satan (1 John 5:19).
To “love” this world (agapaō) means to give it devotion, loyalty, and your deepest yes.
The world lures us to live independently of Yahweh’s presence, His ways, and His will. It doesn’t always look evil—it just looks appealing without God.
Yahweh (God) is not calling us to escape the world, but to stop loving it more than Him.
“You cannot serve two masters…” —Matthew 6:24
Relatable Scenario:
Think of being in a relationship where your partner constantly talks about someone else. They smile at you, but their heart belongs to another. That’s what we do when we say we love Yahweh (God) but constantly choose the world. He sees it. And it grieves Him.
Core Message
To love the world is to slowly walk away from Yahweh (God).
It doesn’t always look like rebellion—it often looks like comfort, convenience, and compromise.
Life Stories
The Influencer Who Walked Away
-
Once bold about their faith—posting Scriptures, sharing prayers, even leading others in online ministry. But slowly, things changed. The message softened. The focus shifted from Yeshua (Jesus) to self-branding, success, and social approval. Eventually, the gospel disappeared altogether.
They didn’t renounce Yahweh (God) with their mouths—but with their silence, their platform did. Like Demas, they didn’t fall in a moment. They faded—one compromise
at a time.
“Do not love the world… If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” —1 John 2:15 (NRSV)
This story isn’t just theirs. It’s a warning for all of us. Who is really shaping our message—the Spirit, or the system?
Lot’s Wife
-
Genesis 19:26 tells of a woman rescued by Yahweh (God) from destruction, but whose heart was still tied to a life she was supposed to leave. She looked back—and in one moment, was turned into a pillar of salt. Her story teaches us this: Deliverance means nothing if your heart still belongs to what God brought you out of..
Eve
-
She saw the fruit and desired more—more wisdom, more power, more control. But her desire bypassed the will of Yahweh (God). Genesis 3 reveals how the enemy uses the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life to get us to reach for what Yahweh already promised to give us in His time. Her story reminds us: Not every desire is safe—especially when it leaves Yahweh out.
Yeshua (Jesus)
-
In Matthew 4, Yeshua was tempted in every way the world still tempts us today—physical need, public recognition, and power without obedience. But He stood firm. He didn’t argue. He used the Word. He chose Yahweh (God) every time. His faithfulness in the wilderness is proof: we don’t have to fall in love with the world—we can overcome it.
“Take heart; I have overcome the world.” —John 16:33
Common Experiences
-
Choosing entertainment over prayer.
-
Downplaying faith to keep friends or followers.
-
Prioritizing wealth, status, or appearance over obedience.
Everyday Challenges
-
Not recognizing the spiritual source behind a “good” thing
-
Fear of leaving organizations or groups tied to family or identity
-
Embarrassment in admitting spiritual confusion
-
Ignorance of how deeply oaths and symbols spiritually affect the soul
Modern Connections
-
Lust of the flesh = pleasure at any cost (excess, addiction, moral compromise).
-
Lust of the eyes = always wanting more (materialism, comparison, envy).
-
Pride of life = status without surrender (platform over purity, fame over faith).
Reflection & Application
Reflection Questions:
Ask Yourself:
-
What do I crave more than His presence?
-
Where am I allowing pressure to shape me?
-
Am I resisting the world or slowly giving in?
Application Steps:
Choose one area where you’ve compromised. Repent. Fast from it this week. Replace it with prayer, worship, or a deeper study of His Word.
Closing Prayer
Yahweh (God),
We confess: we’ve let the world in. But we don’t want anything that costs us You. Burn up every idol. Tear down every affection that lifts itself above Your will. Let our love be holy again. Teach us how to live in this world without loving it. Satisfy us with Yourself, Yeshua (Jesus). You’re worth everything. Amen.

-

Key Takeaway:
Loving the world is not just a danger—it’s a decision.
And that decision affects whether we walk in the fullness of Yahweh’s presence or drift from it. What we love most will define how we live.
Concluding Thoughts:
We’re not here to escape the world—we’re here to overcome it. Like submarines in deep waters, we can walk through pressure-filled environments without being crushed—if we are pressurized by the presence of Yahweh (God).
So be filled. Be set apart. Be watchful. Be in love with Him again.
Let this love cost you everything—because He is everything.
Amen ... So much can be said here....."What profits a man to gain the whole world but loses his soul. " The love of the world draws you away from the love of Christ (can't have both) When you accept Christ as your Saviour, He already know the things you're in need of and no good thing will He withhold from those who walk upright. He loves us that much. So how much do you love Him....what are you willing to give up for Him. (His Plan, His Purpose, His Time) He knows your heart.
